Job Description (JD) – Manager / Senior Manager – Tool Room
Position: Manager / Senior Manager – Tool Room
Experience: 8–15 Years (Minimum 3–5 years in Tool Room/Tool & Die Manufacturing environment with team handling experience)
Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or equivalent
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Tool Room team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Plan, monitor, and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance of molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
Ensure timely availability and maintenance of production tools to minimize downtime.
Supervise machining operations including Milling, Grinding, Turning, EDM, and other precision machining processes.
Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Design teams for new tool development and modifications.
Optimize tool life, improve tooling performance, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Maintain tool inventory, spare parts, and procurement activities through ERP systems.
Ensure adherence to quality standards, dimensional accuracy, and inspection using precision measuring instruments such as Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, and CMM.
Implement and sustain 5S, safety standards, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Tool Room.
Train, mentor, and develop the Tool Room team while ensuring high productivity and discipline.
Prepare maintenance schedules, MIS reports, and monitor departmental KPIs.
Required Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of Milling, Grinding, Turning, EDM, and Tool Room machining operations.
Experience in Tool Design, Die Maintenance, Mold Maintenance, and Engineering drawings.
Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software such as NX, Delcam, or equivalent.
Knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance of molds, dies, and tooling.
Experience with ERP systems for tool inventory and maintenance management.
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments including Vernier, Micrometer, Dial Gauge, and CMM.
