- Supervise and coordinate activities of nursing staff across departments
- Prepare duty rosters and manage shift allocations
- Monitor staff performance and provide guidance, support, and feedback
- Ensure adequate staffing levels at all times
- Ensure high standards of patient care and safety
- Monitor patient conditions and nursing interventions
- Handle critical situations and escalate when required
- Ensure proper documentation of patient records
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, protocols, and NABH standards
- Maintain infection control practices and hygiene standards
- Conduct regular audits and quality checks in wards
- Ensure proper use of medical equipment and supplies
- Train and mentor nursing staff, especially new joiners
- Conduct regular skill development sessions and workshops
- Ensure staff are updated on latest nursing practices and protocols
- Coordinate with doctors, departments, and management
- Act as a communication bridge between staff and administration
- Handle patient/attender complaints and resolve issues professionally
- Maintain reports, records, and nursing documentation
- Monitor inventory of medical supplies and equipment
- Assist in policy implementation and hospital planning
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies
- Ensure readiness of emergency equipment and staff
- Lead nursing response during critical incidents
Educational Qualifications
- B.Sc Nursing (Basic or Post Basic) – Preferred
- GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery) – Minimum requirement
- M.Sc Nursing – Added advantage
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of clinical experience in a hospital
- At least 2–3 years in a supervisory/charge nurse role preferred
- Experience in ICU/OT/Ward management is an advantage
Licensing & Certification
- Valid Nursing Registration Certificate (State Nursing Council)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – Mandatory
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Preferred
