Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Senior Solar PV & BESS Design Engineer to join our operations in India. In this role, you will act as a key technical bridge, collaborating with US-based developers, EPC contractors, and engineering firms to deliver top-tier electrical and physical design packages for utility-scale and C&I solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems across the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Global Project Execution:
Lead the end-to-end design of US-based solar PV and BESS projects from conceptual stages to Issued-for-Construction (IFC) drawing packages.
Electrical & System Design:
Design AC/DC collection systems, inverter stations, medium-voltage (MV) transformers, switchgear, and BESS layout configurations compliant with US codes.
Engineering Calculations
: Perform accurate calculations for cable ampacity, voltage drop, short-circuit studies, conduit fill, and dc/ac ratio optimizations.
BESS Integration Support: Assist in designing storage architectures, auxiliary power layouts, fire safety compliance, and thermal management strategies aligned with US standards (UL 9540, NFPA 855).
CAD Drafting & Review:
Prepare and oversee detailed drawing packages using AutoCAD, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), three-line diagrams, site plans, and grounding details.
US Code Compliance:
Ensure all deliverables strictly adhere to the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE standards, and specific regional US utility interconnection requirements.
Cross-Border Collaboration:
Participate in client calls, align with US-based stakeholders on design changes, incorporate feedback efficiently, and maintain high standards of quality control (QA/QC) before submittal.

Experience:
4+ years of core engineering experience specializing in US utility-scale or C&I Solar PV and BESS design.
Software Expertise:
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD. (Plugins would be an added advantage)
Demonstrated track record of working with US-based clients, EPCs, or engineering consulting firms within an outsourcing or global capability center (GCC) model.
Strong hands-on experience with modeling and analysis tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, ETAP, or SKM PowerTools. Regulatory Knowledge: Sound working knowledge of US electrical standards, particularly the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant IEEE codes. Communication: Excellent written and spoken English proficiency, with strong presentation skills for regular client interaction. Preferred Qualifications Experience with SCADA architecture, telemetry, and communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3). Solar PV and BESS. Familiarity with US permitting processes and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) review cycles.
