We are looking for a dynamic Product Development Engineer with 1 to 3 years of experience. In this role, you will not be doing raw CAD design or FEA as those functions are completely outsourced. Instead, you will own the critical responsibility of driving the physical execution of our product roadmap. You will review outsourced engineering drawings, manage product prototyping and manufacturing subcontractors, track vendor supply chains, and lead high-precision final assembly and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
· Drawing & Prototype Review: Interpret outsourced 2D engineering drawings, assembly layouts, and detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) to verify production readiness.
· Subcontractor Management: Coordinate daily with external fabrication, CNC machining, sheet metal, and surface-treatment vendors to track product development schedules.
· Quality Assurance (QA): Perform incoming inspection of outsourced components using calipers, micrometers, and gauges against product development drawings.
· Supply Chain Tracking: Follow up with local suppliers to ensure all mechanical hardware, fasteners, and pneumatic components arrive on time for assembly phases.
· Product Assembly Supervision: Oversee and guide the physical build of test rig structures, frames, mechanical linkages, and piping networks.
· Issue Resolution & Optimization: Identify alignment, fitment, or tolerance errors during the build phase, troubleshoot design-to-manufacturing issues, and coordinate reworks with vendors immediately.
Required Skills and Profile
· Education: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Mechatronics.
· Drawing Literacy: Excellent command over 2D drawings, tolerances, welding symbols, and basic GD&T.
· Manufacturing Knowledge: Good understanding of local manufacturing processes like turning, milling, laser cutting, sheet metal bending, and welding.
· Vendor Coordination: Proven experience working with machine shops, managing lead times, and negotiating reworks in an industrial ecosystem.
· Hustle Mindset: Strong follow-up skills, practical problem-solving attitude, and readiness to spend time on the floor or visit vendor sites.
· Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills in English and local languages to coordinate seamlessly with both management and floor technicians.
