Head of Operations Fleet & Logistics Business
Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned operations leader to build and scale a greenfield fleet and logistics business from the ground up. The role will be responsible for end-to-end operations management including fleet deployment, transportation execution, branch operations, customer servicing, vendor coordination, process establishment, and profitability management. This role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment and can build systems, teams, and processes from scratch.
The incumbent will work closely with the COO and lead the operational setup at the Manesar location while driving operational excellence across the network.
Key Responsibilities
- Own complete operational responsibility with strong focus on P&L management
- Set up operational processes, SOPs, governance frameworks, and execution models from scratch
- Lead fleet deployment, trip management, route optimisation, and service delivery operations
- Build scalable logistics and transportation operations aligned to business growth plans
- Drive vehicle utilisation, turnaround time, load optimisation, and cost efficiencies
- Establish control mechanisms for fuel management, driver productivity, compliance, and asset tracking
- Work closely with maintenance, commercial, and planning teams to ensure smooth execution
- Build and lead high-performing operations teams across locations
- Develop MIS dashboards and operational KPIs for performance monitoring
- Ensure statutory, safety, and transportation compliance across operations
- Manage customer escalations and ensure high service quality standards
- Identify opportunities for process automation and operational improvements
Candidate Profile
- 15+ years of experience in fleet management, transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations
- Proven experience in setting up or scaling transportation/logistics businesses from scratch
- Strong exposure to fleet operations involving owned vehicle models
- Demonstrated experience handling operational P&L responsibility
- Strong understanding of transportation economics, route management, and utilisation metrics
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving business environment
- Hands-on execution mindset with willingness to be deeply involved in operational setup
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
