Job Summary
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Assistant Fashion Designer to support the design and product development team in creating innovative and market-driven women's ethnic wear collections. The candidate will assist in research, design development, fabric selection, sample coordination, and production follow-up while ensuring that designs align with current fashion trends and brand aesthetics.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Development
- Assist the Senior Fashion Designer in developing seasonal and new product collections.
- Create design concepts, sketches, and technical drawings using design software.
- Prepare mood boards, color boards, and trend presentations.
- Develop embroidery, print, and surface ornamentation concepts.
2. Trend & Market Research
- Research domestic and international fashion trends, colors, fabrics, silhouettes, and trims.
- Analyze competitor collections and market demand.
- Suggest new design ideas based on customer preferences and market insights.
3. Fabric & Trim Coordination
- Assist in sourcing fabrics, accessories, trims, laces, buttons, and embellishments.
- Coordinate with vendors for fabric swatches and sampling materials.
- Ensure selected materials meet quality and design requirements.
4. Sampling & Product Development
- Prepare detailed design specifications and tech packs for sampling.
- Coordinate with the sampling team, pattern masters, and production department.
- Monitor sample development and recommend design improvements.
- Review fit, measurements, construction, and finishing of samples.
5. Production Support
- Coordinate with merchandising and production teams for design execution.
- Ensure design specifications are accurately implemented during production.
- Resolve design-related issues during sampling and bulk production.
6. Documentation
- Maintain design files, tech packs, measurement charts, and artwork records.
- Update product development status reports.
- Organize sample libraries and fabric swatch records.
7. Quality & Brand Standards
- Ensure all designs comply with brand guidelines and quality standards.
- Assist in final sample approvals before production.
- Support continuous improvement in product design and innovation.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of women's ethnic wear, garment construction, and fashion trends.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, or similar design software.
- Good understanding of fabrics, embroidery techniques, prints, and garment finishing.
- Excellent sketching and visualization skills.
- Strong creativity with attention to detail.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- 1–3 years of experience in fashion design or apparel product development.
- Experience in Women's Ethnic Wear (Kurti, Kurta Sets, Co-ord Sets, Dresses, Gowns, Anarkali, etc.) is preferred.
- Knowledge of garment sampling, pattern making, and production processes.
- Passion for fashion trends and product innovation.
- Experience working in a garment manufacturing or export house will be an added advantage.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
