Roles & Responsibilities of Pharmacy Manager
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the hospital pharmacy and ensure smooth functioning of all pharmacy activities.
- Manage procurement, inventory control, storage, and dispensing of medicines, vaccines, surgical consumables, and medical supplies related to women and pediatric care.
- Ensure proper stock management and maintain adequate inventory levels to avoid shortages and overstocking.
- Monitor expiry dates and ensure timely removal or replacement of near-expiry and expired medicines.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, pharmacy regulations, licensing requirements, and statutory guidelines.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, assign duties, monitor performance, and provide training as required.
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing departments, and purchase teams regarding medicine requirements and availability.
- Ensure accurate dispensing of medications as per prescriptions and maintain patient safety standards.
- Implement medication safety protocols and minimize dispensing errors.
- Maintain records of narcotic drugs, controlled medicines, and other regulatory documentation as per legal requirements.
- Handle vendor coordination, evaluate suppliers, and negotiate for quality products and pricing.
- Prepare pharmacy reports related to stock usage, consumption trends, monthly audits, and inventory analysis.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for medicines including temperature-sensitive drugs and vaccines.
- Conduct periodic audits and support quality initiatives such as NABH standards and internal audits.
- Address patient and departmental concerns related to pharmacy services professionally and promptly.
- Support implementation and effective utilization of Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and pharmacy software.
