About Upstorr
Upstorr is an India-first commerce platform built for modern product-based brands. It brings online storefronts, orders, inventory, GST-ready invoicing, exhibitions, bookings, customer reviews, WhatsApp operations and other essential commerce tools into one integrated platform.
After building the platform over the past 1.5 years, we are now forming our first sales team and onboarding our initial group of merchants.
About the internship
We are looking for a confident, curious and persistent Business Development & Sales Intern to help us connect with jewellery, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and other product-based brands.
You will work directly with Upstorr’s founder and learn how early-stage B2B sales works—from identifying suitable brands and reaching decision-makers to understanding business problems, scheduling product demonstrations and following up with prospects.
You will not be expected to understand or independently sell the entire platform from your first day. You will receive product training, outreach guidance, scripts and direct feedback from the founder.
Responsibilities
- Research Indian jewellery, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and D2C brands that could benefit from Upstorr.
- Identify founders, owners and relevant decision-makers.
- Contact qualified prospects through WhatsApp, Instagram, email and phone.
- Personalize outreach instead of sending generic bulk messages.
- Ask basic qualification questions about the brand’s website, sales channels, exhibitions, WhatsApp usage and operational challenges.
- Schedule qualified product demonstrations directly on the founder’s calendar.
- Follow up consistently with interested prospects.
- Maintain accurate lead status, notes and next actions in the shared sales pipeline.
- Attend product demonstrations to learn the complete sales process.
- Gradually conduct introductory and discovery conversations after completing training.
- Share recurring merchant questions, objections and product feedback with the founder.
Who should apply

- Can write professional, natural and personalized messages.
- Are persistent without being disrespectful or spammy.
- Are organized and can maintain accurate follow-up records.
- Are willing to learn a detailed software product.
- Respond well to direct feedback and coaching.
- Are interested in startups, ecommerce, D2C brands, SaaS or business development.
- Can work independently and meet measurable daily activity expectations.
Previous sales experience is helpful but not required. Freshers are welcome. We care more about communication, initiative, reliability and coachability than formal qualifications.
Working arrangement
- Part-time, work-from-home internship
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- Predetermined working hours for outreach and collaboration
- Daily check-ins and a weekly pipeline review
- Initial three-month engagement, with the possibility of a longer-term role based on performance
Compensation
- Fixed stipend: ₹3,000 per month
- Performance incentive: ₹2,500 per successfully converted and retained merchant
- Incentives are uncapped
A conversion incentive is earned as follows:
- ₹1,000 after the merchant completes their first successful paid month following the free trial
- ₹1,500 after the merchant completes their second consecutive successful paid month
Trials, duplicate accounts, refunded subscriptions, failed payments and unauthorized discounts do not qualify.
Example: Five successfully retained merchants would result in ₹12,500 of conversion incentives in addition to the fixed stipend.
Any incentive earned from a merchant acquired during the internship will remain payable after the internship ends, provided the merchant subsequently completes the applicable paid-month requirement.

Selection process
Shortlisted candidates will complete a brief practical exercise:
1. Identify five Indian product-based brands that could be suitable for Upstorr.
2. Explain why each brand appears to be a good prospect.
3. Write a personalized introductory message for one selected brand.
4. Participate in a short mock conversation with the founder.
This is a practical sales role. Applicants should be comfortable with regular outreach, follow-ups, measurable targets and performance-based incentives.
