Why This Role Matters
This is not a traditional accounting position. As an Accounts Controller, you will play a critical role in building the financial foundation of a high-growth deep-tech company operating at the intersection of AI, hardware, manufacturing, and industrial automation.
You will work directly with the founders and leadership team, driving finance operations, compliance, reporting, and strategic decision-making while gaining valuable exposure to investor interactions and fundraising initiatives.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly driven and ownership-oriented Accounts Controller who can establish strong financial systems, ensure compliance, and provide data-driven insights to support business growth.
This role is ideal for a young Chartered Accountant who wants to go beyond routine accounting and grow into a long-term finance leadership position.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting & Controls
- Own day-to-day accounting operations, bookkeeping reviews, bank reconciliations, vendor reconciliations, and month-end closures.
- Maintain accurate accounting for revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, inventory transactions, and hardware deployment costs.
- Establish and improve processes for documentation, approvals, payments, and financial controls.
- Strengthen accounting hygiene and ensure process discipline across the organization.
Compliance & Statutory Management
- Manage GST, TDS, PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Income Tax coordination, and all statutory compliances.
- Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and external stakeholders for statutory audits, tax audits, and internal reviews.
- Ensure timely filings and adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Financial Reporting & Business Support
- Prepare monthly MIS reports covering:
- Revenue and expenses
- Cash flow and working capital
- Receivables and payables
- Burn rate and runway
- Key operating metrics
- Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and founder-level financial decision-making.
- Provide actionable financial insights to business teams.
Inventory & Costing
- Partner with operations, procurement, and production teams on:
- Inventory accounting
- Product costing
- BOM tracking
- Margin analysis
- Identify process gaps, financial leakages, and control risks proactively.
Investor Relations & Fundraising Support
- Support founders during investor discussions by preparing clean financial data and MIS packs.
- Assist in preparing investor-ready reports and business metrics.
- Coordinate data rooms, financial statements, audits, and due diligence processes.
- Translate financial numbers into simple business insights for investors and leadership.
What We Are Looking For
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 1–2 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, taxation, audit, compliance, and financial controls.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills.
- Working knowledge of accounting and ERP software.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Business-first mindset and strong analytical abilities.
- High ownership and accountability.
Added Advantage
- Experience in manufacturing, hardware, industrial automation, textile machinery, or supply-chain-intensive businesses.
- Big 4 articleship or post-qualification experience.
- Exposure to startup finance, investor reporting, fundraising support, and financial modelling.
- Experience with inventory accounting, product costing, internal controls, and vendor management.
