We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Merchandiser with specialized experience in wooden products, specifically wooden toys, home decor, or furniture. In this role, you will support the end-to-end product lifecycle—from sampling and vendor coordination to production tracking and order fulfillment. You will act as a key liaison between internal teams (design, quality control, sales) and external manufacturing partners to ensure all wooden products meet quality standards, timeline targets, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Sampling
- Support the development of new wooden product lines (furniture, wooden toys, decor) by translating design concepts into tech packs and sample requests for suppliers.
- Track sample progress, review incoming prototypes for specs (wood finish, joinery, safety features), and communicate feedback to manufacturers.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining the sample library and material swatches (wood types, veneers, finishes, hardware).
Vendor & Production Management
- Maintain daily communication with overseas and local suppliers regarding order status, production schedules, and material sourcing.
- Monitor production timelines to ensure on-time delivery; identify potential delays early and help resolve production bottlenecks.
- Request and review pricing quotes, bill of materials (BOM), and factory lead times to assist in cost negotiation.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Work with quality assurance teams to ensure wooden toys comply with international safety regulations (e.g., ASTM F963, EN71, non-toxic finishes, lead-free paints).
- Ensure furniture products adhere to structural safety, wood moisture standards, and sustainable sourcing guidelines (e.g., FSC certification).
- Coordinate pre-shipment inspections and review inspection reports prior to final dispatch.
Inventory & Order Administration
- Issue and track Purchase Orders (POs) in the ERP/inventory management system.
- Maintain accurate product data, including SKUs, dimensions, packaging requirements, and HS codes.
- Coordinate with logistics teams to monitor shipments, customs documentation, and delivery schedules.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion/Textile/Retail Merchandising, Business Administration, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of merchandising or product development experience specifically working with wooden products (furniture, wooden toys, tabletop, or home decor).
- Technical Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of wood species, finishes, manufacturing processes (CNC routing, carving, joining), and packaging considerations for bulky or fragile goods.
- Familiarity with toy safety standards (EN71/ASTM) or furniture structural/compliance testing is highly desirable.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel for data analysis and PO management) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, or PLM software).
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, strong negotiation ability, high attention to detail, and solid time-management skills.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
