About the Role
Inland Hospital is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to perform routine and specialized laboratory investigations that support accurate diagnosis and patient care. The ideal candidate will ensure high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency while working under the supervision of the Consultant Pathologist.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, receive, label, and process patient specimens, including blood, urine, stool, sputum, and other body fluids.
- Perform laboratory investigations in Hematology, Clinical Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Serology, and Immunology as assigned.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and analyzers.
- Ensure proper sample handling, storage, and disposal in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Perform internal quality control (IQC) procedures and assist in external quality assurance (EQAS) activities.
- Record and report test results accurately and promptly through the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or Hospital Information System (HIS).
- Maintain laboratory records, registers, and documentation in compliance with hospital policies.
- Adhere to biosafety, infection control, and waste management protocols.
- Monitor reagent inventory and report shortages or equipment malfunctions.
- Assist the Consultant Pathologist in maintaining laboratory accreditation and quality standards.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and comply with ethical and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Diploma (DMLT) or Bachelor's Degree (BMLT) in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the appropriate regulatory authority (where applicable).
- Previous hospital or diagnostic laboratory experience is preferred.
- Fresh graduates with strong technical knowledge are encouraged to apply.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and quality control.
- Proficiency in operating automated laboratory analyzers.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
