The Discharge Summary Typist is responsible for accurately typing, formatting, and finalizing patient discharge summaries and other medical documents as dictated or provided by healthcare professionals. The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Type and format discharge summaries dictated by doctors or provided in handwritten/audio format
- Ensure accuracy in patient information, diagnosis, treatment details, and medications
- Proofread documents for spelling, grammar, and medical accuracy
- Maintain proper formatting as per hospital standards
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and medical records staff for clarifications
- Ensure timely completion of discharge summaries to avoid delays in patient discharge
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records in compliance with regulations
- Update and store records in hospital information systems or electronic medical records (EMR)
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum qualification: Diploma / Graduate (any stream)
- Certification or training in medical transcription (preferred)
- Good typing speed (typically 40–60 WPM or higher)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in MS Word and hospital software systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Good listening skills (for audio dictation)
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in medical transcription or hospital documentation (preferred)
- Freshers with relevant training may also be considered
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
