Verify Mill Test Certificates (MTC) / Certificates of Analysis (COA) against specifications.

Conduct visual and dimensional checks of core wire and raw materials.

Ensure proper identification, traceability, and segregation of accepted/rejected materials.

Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for rejected materials.
2. In-Process Quality Control
-
Review of special process records.
-
Drying and DHR cycles (temperature & time) review.
-
Ensure adherence to approved process parameters and work instructions.
-
Perform routine inspections for coating uniformity, cracks, and surface defects.
-
Control and record process deviations.
3. Finished Product Inspection & Testing
-
Inspect finished electrodes for:
-
Length, diameter, coating thickness
-
Coating adhesion and integrity
-
Surface finish and marking
-
Conduct or coordinate mechanical and welding tests such as:
-
Tensile strength
-
Bend test
-
Elongation
-
Weldability and arc stability
-
Verify compliance with applicable standards (AWS / IS / EN).

Approve or reject batches based on test results.
4. Laboratory Testing & Equipment Control
-
Review routine lab testing of raw materials and finished electrodes test results.
-
Ensure proper handling and preparation of test samples.
-
Maintain and monitor calibration status of testing instruments.
-
Ensure accuracy and repeatability of test results.
5. Documentation & Record Keeping
-
Maintain accurate records of:
-
Incoming inspection reports
-
In-process inspection logs
-
Final inspection and test reports
-
Ensure full batch traceability from raw material to finished product.
-
Prepare daily, weekly, and batch quality reports.
-
Follow document control requirements as per ISO 9001.
6. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
-
Identify and report non-conforming products and processes.
-
Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) of defects.
-
Support implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
-
Ensure proper disposition of rejected materials (rework/scrap).
7. QA Support & Audit Participation
-
Support QA team during internal and external audits.
-
Ensure inspection records and documents are audit-ready.
-
Assist in preparation of quality dossiers and compliance reports.
8. Customer & Trial Support
-
Support sample preparation and testing for customer approvals.
-
Assist in investigation of customer complaints and provide data/report support.
9. Safety & Shopfloor Discipline
-
Ensure compliance with safety practices in production and lab areas.
-
Monitor proper usage of PPE (gloves, masks, safety shoes, etc.).
-
Follow safe handling of chemicals and hot materials.
-
Maintain good housekeeping and 5S practices.
10. Continuous Improvement
-
Suggest improvements in process control and inspection methods.
-
Work towards reducing defects, rework, and process variations.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
