A Pan Asian Commis 3 is an entry-level junior chef responsible for assisting senior chefs with food preparation, specifically focusing on Pan Asian cuisine (Japanese, Thai, Chinese). They prepare ingredients (mise-en-place), maintain kitchen hygiene (HACCP/FSSAI standards), and support wok or section operations to ensure food consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Mise-en-place: Preparing, chopping, cleaning, and organizing ingredients (vegetables, meats, sauces) for Pan Asian dishes.
- Kitchen Support: Assisting Chefs de Partie (CDP) or Sous Chefs with daily operations, including wok cooking, steaming, or plating.
- Hygiene & Safety: Adhering to strict food safety protocols, including temperature checks, food labeling/dating (FIFO/LIFO), and maintaining a clean workstation.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Often 0–3 years in a similar role or a culinary diploma.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of Pan Asian cooking techniques and ingredients.
- Skills: Strong knife handling, ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
- Attributes: Punctual, team player, and willing to learn.
