Job Description: Embroidery (EMB) CAD Designer
An Embroidery (EMB) CAD Designer creates detailed, digitized embroidery designs and technical specifications using specialized CAD software (e.g., Wilcom, Tajima) for apparel or textile products. They translate artwork into machine-readable embroidery files, optimizing stitch types, density, and color sequences, while collaborating with production teams to ensure design feasibility and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Digitizing: Create, modify, and digitize embroidery designs (3D and 2D) using CAD software, ensuring accurate stitch mapping, proper, and color sequencing.
- Technical Specifications: Prepare detailed technical documents, including colorways, size specs, and production notes for manufacturing.
- Quality Control: Review and edit designs based on prototypes (strike-offs) to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to design specifications.
- Production Collaboration: Work with engineers, designers, and production teams to ensure designs are functional and feasible for embroidery machinery.
- System Maintenance: Maintain a library of design templates and archive final, approved digital files.
Qualifications and Skills
- Software Proficiency: Experience with embroidery software such as Wilcom, Tajima DG/ML by Pulse, or Gerber.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of fabric types, stabilizer options, thread types, and needle sizes.
- Detail Oriented: Strong attention to detail to ensure precise stitch placement and high-quality output.
- Education/Experience: Associate’s degree or relevant experience in fashion design, textile design, or a related field.
- Communication: Strong ability to collaborate with design and production teams.
