- Position: Safety Officer / EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Specialist
- Department: Operations / EHS / Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities1. Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification
- Conduct regular site walkthroughs and safety inspections to identify potential hazards and unsafe conditions.
- Perform risk assessments and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) prior to initiating critical operations.
- Recommend and enforce preventative and corrective risk-mitigation measures.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Policy Enforcement
- Ensure operational compliance with safety standards such as OSHA, ISO 45001, and local labor and environmental laws.
- Formulate, update, and enforce company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety policies.
- Maintain safety logs, permits, audit files, and documentation required for regulatory reviews.
3. Incident Investigation & Reporting
- Lead root cause analyses (RCA) for all workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses.
- Compile detailed incident reports and communicate recommendations to upper management.
- Report critical incidents to statutory regulatory bodies within mandated timeframes.
4. Safety Training & Culture
- Conduct employee safety orientations, daily toolbox talks, and specialized safety briefings.
- Train staff on proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use, machine guarding, hazard communication, and chemical handling.
- Promote a safe working environment and foster a proactive safety culture.
5. Emergency Preparedness
- Establish, test, and maintain Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) for scenarios such as fires, spills, or structural failures.
- Organize regular emergency drills (e.g., fire drills, evacuation procedures).
- Ensure all emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, first aid kits) is operational and regularly inspected.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5+ years of hands-on experience in safety roles (industry-specific: construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, healthcare).
