An Area Sales Executive in FMCG is responsible for driving product distribution, volume, and brand visibility within a specific geographic territory. They manage relationships with wholesalers, distributors, and retail stores.
- Target Achievement: Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly volume and value sales targets assigned for the territory.
- Distributor Management: Manage stock levels at distributor points, prevent stock-outs, and ensure timely dispatches and credit collections.
- Retail Expansion: Identify, onboard, and manage relationships with new retailers and wholesalers to expand market reach.
- Merchandising & Visibility: Ensure products are well-placed on shelves (planogram compliance) and utilize point-of-sale (POS) materials to increase visibility.
- New Product Launches: Drive the distribution and placement of new product developments (NPD) across all stores in the assigned area.
- Market Intelligence: Track competitor activities, pricing, and promotional schemes, and report them to senior management.
- Reporting: Submit daily sales reports (DSR), maintain coverage dashboards, and track secondary sales.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience: Typically 2 to 5 years of field sales experience within the FMCG or consumer goods industry.
- Skills Needed:
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong understanding of local market dynamics and distributor networks.
- Proficiency in using sales reporting and inventory applications.
- Ability to travel frequently within the designated territory.
