Key Responsibilities:
1. QMS Implementation & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System as per ISO 9001 or relevant diamond industry standards.
- Define and document quality policies, objectives, SOPs, and work instructions for all departments.
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external certification audits.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and customer-specific requirements.
2. Process & Quality Control
- Oversee quality processes for rough diamond sorting, planning, cutting, polishing, grading, and final dispatch.
- Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement.
- Implement defect prevention and root-cause analysis techniques.
3. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain all QMS-related documentation and records.
- Prepare quality performance reports and present to management.
- Track KPIs like rejection rates, rework percentages, and customer complaints.
4. Team Leadership & Training
- Build and lead the QMS/quality team across departments.
- Provide training to employees on QMS standards, SOPs, and best practices.
- Create a culture of quality awareness and accountability.
5. Customer & Supplier Quality Assurance
- Manage customer feedback and complaints effectively.
- Conduct supplier audits to ensure raw material and service quality.
- Work closely with vendors to maintain quality standards.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives for process optimization and cost reduction without compromising quality.
- Drive Six Sigma / Lean quality projects (if applicable).
- Monitor and analyze trends in diamond production quality.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 or equivalent QMS standards.
- Experience in diamond industry processes: rough planning, cutting, polishing, grading.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
- Lead Auditor Certification in ISO 9001 preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in Quality Management, with at least 3–5 years in a senior QMS role.
- Prior experience in the diamond or gemstone industry is highly desirable.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Reduction in defects/rework.
- Successful ISO / QMS certification and surveillance audits.
- Improvement in customer satisfaction ratings.
- Timely closure of internal and external audit findings.
