Job Title: College Bus Driver and Conductor
Job Location: Madurai Sivakasi Nadars Pioneer Meenakshi Women’s College, Poovanthi – 630611, Sivaganga District.
Job Summary
The College Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students, faculty members, and staff between designated locations while ensuring passenger safety, punctuality, and compliance with all traffic regulations. The driver must maintain the assigned vehicle in good condition and represent the institution with professionalism and courtesy.
Job Responsibilities
- Safely operate the college bus on assigned routes and schedules.
- Transport students, faculty, staff, and guests to and from the college and other approved destinations.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers during transit.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain the cleanliness and roadworthiness of the assigned vehicle.
- Report mechanical faults, accidents, or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, transport regulations, and institutional policies.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, fuel records, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Assist passengers, particularly those requiring additional support, when boarding and alighting.
- Respond calmly and appropriately in emergencies or breakdown situations.
- Coordinate with the Transport Manager/Transport In-charge regarding route changes, schedules, and vehicle maintenance.
- Ensure timely arrival and departure according to the college transport schedule.
Required Skills
- Excellent driving skills with a strong focus on safety.
- Good knowledge of traffic rules and road safety regulations.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and responsibly.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Punctual, reliable, and disciplined.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or special college events when required.
- Professional attitude and courteous behaviour towards students and staff.
Qualification
- Minimum 10th Standard (SSLC) Pass.
- Higher educational qualifications are desirable but not mandatory.
- Valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) Driving Licence.
- Valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Badge/Transport Licence (as per government regulations).
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Heavy Vehicle/Bus Driver.
- Age: 35 to 50 years
- Previous experience in driving school, college, or institutional buses is preferred.
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents.
