- VMC Programming: Develop, test, and optimize programs for VMC machines using G-code, M-code, and CAM software such as Mastercam, SolidCAM, NX CAM, or PowerMill, ensuring production-ready programs with minimal shop-floor dependency
- Machine Operation: Set up and operate VMC machines for milling, drilling, tapping, and other machining operations, including first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks placementindia.
- Tool and Fixture Selection: Choose appropriate cutting tools, tool paths, fixtures, and machining strategies based on material, component geometry, and production requirements placementindia.
- Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T specifications, and complex geometries to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with design standards placementindia.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve programming errors, machine alarms, or machining defects, implementing corrective actions to maintain workflow and quality
- Process Optimization: Enhance productivity by optimizing cutting parameters, reducing cycle time, and extending tool life placementindia
- Documentation and Coordination: Maintain detailed records of programs, setups, tooling, and process sheets; collaborate with production, quality, and design teams for continuous improvement placementindia.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Educational Background: Diploma or BE in Mechanical Engineering, CAD/CAM, or related fields; additional VMC programming courses are advantageous
- Experience: Typically 2–3 years in VMC programming, machine setup, and precision component manufacturing; familiarity with multi-axis machining is preferred
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with CNC controllers (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, or Mitsubishi), CAM software, and understanding of cutting parameters, tool life, and machining strategies
