Job Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Assistant for the Automation Lab to support laboratory operations, practical sessions, and automation-related activities. The candidate will assist faculty members in conducting laboratory classes, guide students in handling automation systems and equipment, and ensure smooth functioning of laboratory operations. The role requires sound knowledge of automation systems, sensors, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial control applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist faculty members in conducting practical classes, laboratory sessions, and technical activities related to Automation Engineering.
- Prepare laboratory equipment, automation kits, tools, instruments, and materials prior to practical sessions.
- Guide students in the safe operation, testing, and application of automation systems, PLCs, sensors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and control equipment.
- Assist in wiring, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of automation systems and control panels.
- Maintain, calibrate, inspect, and coordinate the servicing and repair of laboratory equipment and automation devices to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Monitor laboratory activities and enforce compliance with safety standards, operational procedures, and departmental regulations.
- Maintain records of laboratory inventory, consumables, equipment utilization, maintenance schedules, and servicing activities.
- Support student projects, prototype development, workshops, practical examinations, and other departmental technical activities.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of laboratory facilities and equipment.
- Coordinate with faculty members and departmental staff to ensure the smooth functioning of laboratory operations.
Desired Candidate Qualification:
- B.E. / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering – mandatory.
- 2–5 years of experience in automation laboratories, industrial automation, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial automation systems.
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring, control panels, testing, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to handle laboratory equipment, automation kits, and training systems effectively.
- Good knowledge of laboratory safety standards, maintenance procedures, and documentation practices.
- Basic computer knowledge and record-maintenance skills.
- Good communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assist students during practical sessions and project activities.
- Experience in educational institutions, polytechnics, engineering colleges, or industrial environments is preferred.
