Job description:
The EHS Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring environmental, health, and safety practices to ensure statutory and organizational compliance. The role includes managing project safety, conducting risk assessments, maintaining complete EHS documentation, and promoting a strong culture of safety and environmental responsibility in coordination with management, employees, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Implementation:
- Develop and enforce EHS policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of safety policies to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Identify potential hazards and conduct risk assessments for workplace activities and environments.
- Develop and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks.
- Training and Awareness:
- Conduct EHS training sessions for employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Promote awareness of safety practices and environmental sustainability through campaigns and workshops.
- Incident Management:
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Compliance and Audits:
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international EHS regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify non-compliance issues.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
- Conduct drills and training to ensure readiness for emergencies such as fire, spills, or natural disasters.
- Environmental Management:
- Monitor and manage waste disposal, emissions, and resource usage to minimize environmental impact.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, training, incidents, and compliance.
- Prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies as required.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with project teams to integrate EHS considerations into planning and execution.
- Provide support and guidance on safety matters to employees and contractors.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education:
- ADIS (Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety) from MSBTE board (Mandatory)
- Certification in EHS (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) is preferred.
- Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- Experience in interior fit-out projects or related industries is an advantage.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices.
- Proficiency in risk assessment and incident investigation techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
