The SDA Governance Fellowship is a short-term, full-time engagement based at the State Transformation Commission (STC), Lucknow. It is designed for motivated early-career professionals and recent graduates who want to contribute to a data governance initiative in one of India’s largest state.
Data Governance Fellows are the operational backbone of the SDA’s on-ground team in Lucknow. Their primary role is to facilitate inter-departmental outreach, support government departments in registering their datasets on the Metadata Registry Platform, and maintain the data processese between departments and the SDA. Fellows are supervised by and will work closely with the Data Governance Lead and Data Analyst.
Data Governance Fellows will carry out the following key activities:
- Inter-departmental Outreach: Build and maintain working relationships with Data Owners and Data Stewards across Government of UP departments; serve as the SDA’s face with departmental contacts; facilitate smooth communication and follow-up.
- Dataset Facilitation: Assist departmental staff in identifying, describing, and adding their datasets on the Metadata Registry Platform; walk them through the process; resolve queries and escalate technical issues to the Lead.
- Data Follow-up: Maintain a department-wise data tracker; follow up on pending submissions; flag bottlenecks and delays to the Lead; ensure the pipeline moves at pace across all onboarded departments.
- Field Documentation: Document observations from departmental visits, feedback from government users, and implementation challenges; contribute this field intelligence to monthly progress reports and the Data Analyst’s Compliance Baseline work.
- Logistics & Coordination: Support the organisation of departmental visits, training workshops, and events; coordinate meeting schedules and venue logistics for the Lucknow team.
- Research & Analysis Support: Assist the Data Analyst with background research, data compilation, and analysis tasks as required by the SDA programme.
