Location: Khar west, Mumbai - ( 5-7 mins walking from Khar Road station).
Job Summary - We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented Junior Interior Designer to join our design team. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in interior design, good visual and creative skills, and a willingness to learn and work across both design and on-site execution. The role will involve assisting with concept development, mood boards, material selections, drawings, 3D visualizations, and site supervision while coordinating with senior designers, vendors, contractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities -
Design & Concept Development
- Assist senior designers in developing interior design concepts based on project requirements.
- Create mood boards, concept boards, material boards, and colour palettes.
- Assist in space planning, furniture layouts, and design development.
- Research and suggest suitable materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, fixtures, and décor elements.
- Develop design presentations and visual references for client discussions.
- Assist in preparing design proposals and project presentations.
Drawings & Documentation
- Prepare and update 2D drawings, layouts, elevations, sections, and detail drawings under the guidance of senior designers.
- Assist with furniture, lighting, ceiling, flooring, and other interior drawings.
- Ensure drawings are accurate and updated based on site conditions and design changes.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors regarding drawings and specifications.
Site Supervision & Execution
- Visit project sites regularly to monitor ongoing interior work.
- Assist in supervising execution to ensure that work is carried out according to approved designs and drawings.
- Take site measurements and document existing site conditions.
- Coordinate with contractors, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters, and other site teams.
- Monitor the quality and finishing of materials and workmanship.
- Identify site issues and communicate them to the senior designer/project manager.
- Track progress and report updates to the design team.
- Assist with snag identification and rectification during project execution.
Coordination & Project Support
- Coordinate between the design team, site team, vendors, and clients as required.
- Assist with material sourcing, vendor coordination, and sample collection.
- Maintain organized project files, drawings, material selections, and site records.
- Participate in client meetings and site discussions when required.
- Support the senior designer throughout the project lifecycle, from concept to execution.
Required Skills
- Degree/Diploma in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field.
- Good understanding of basic interior design principles, space planning, colours, materials, and finishes.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
- Knowledge of SketchUp, 3ds Max, V-Ray, Enscape, Photoshop, Canva, or similar design software will be an advantage.
- Good visualisation and presentation skills.
- Creative mindset with an eye for detail and aesthetics.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong willingness to learn and take responsibility.
