Position: Hospital Electrician
Job Summary
The Hospital Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of electrical systems and equipment to ensure the safe and uninterrupted operation of hospital facilities. The role requires adherence to safety standards and prompt response to electrical emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical hospital areas such as ICUs, Operation Theatres, Emergency Department, and laboratories.
- Monitor and maintain generators, UPS systems, electrical panels, transformers, and emergency lighting systems.
- Respond promptly to electrical faults and emergency breakdowns.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and rectify electrical hazards.
- Maintain maintenance records, logbooks, and service reports.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations and hospital policies.
- Coordinate with external vendors for major electrical repairs and maintenance.
- Assist during fire safety drills and emergency preparedness activities.
Qualifications
- ITI in Electrician Trade or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as an electrician, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility.
Skills
- Knowledge of electrical systems, generators, UPS, HT/LT panels, and hospital equipment power requirements.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices and preventive maintenance.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
