Role Overview
The Vice Principal will be a key member of the school leadership team and will support the Principal in academic administration, CBSE compliance, teacher coordination, parent communication, student discipline, and day-to-day school operations.
The role requires a mature, responsible, and proactive educational leader who understands the functioning of a CBSE school and can ensure that academic systems, teacher accountability, parent communication, and student welfare are handled professionally.
The Vice Principal will also be required to teach 10–15 periods per week in order to remain connected with students, classroom realities, pedagogy, curriculum delivery, and academic standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Academic Leadership and Teacher Coordination
- Support the Principal in implementing the academic vision and yearly academic plan of the school.
- Coordinate with teachers to ensure timely completion of syllabus, lesson plans, assessments, corrections, remedial classes, and academic documentation.
- Monitor classroom teaching quality through regular classroom observations, feedback sessions, and academic reviews.
- Ensure that teachers follow CBSE curriculum requirements, school policies, timetable, assessment patterns, and reporting systems.
- Conduct regular meetings with coordinators, HODs, and teachers to review academic progress.
- Guide teachers in improving lesson delivery, classroom management, student engagement, and differentiated learning.
- Support new teachers through induction, mentoring, and regular feedback.
- Help identify training needs and coordinate professional development programmes for teachers.
2. CBSE Compliance and Documentation
- Assist the Principal in maintaining CBSE-related records, documents, circular compliance, affiliation requirements, inspection readiness, and statutory submissions.
- Ensure proper maintenance of mandatory records such as attendance registers, lesson plans, assessment records, staff records, committee records, safety records, and other CBSE-related documentation.
- Support compliance related to CBSE examinations, school committees, safety norms, academic calendar, board requirements, and school policies.
- Track important CBSE circulars and ensure timely implementation within the school.
- Support the school in preparing for CBSE inspections, audits, affiliation processes, and other regulatory requirements.
3. Teaching Responsibility
- Teach 10–15 periods per week in the relevant subject area.
- Maintain high standards of classroom teaching, lesson preparation, student engagement, assessment, and correction.
- Use classroom teaching as a way to remain connected with student needs, teacher challenges, pedagogy, curriculum expectations, and academic standards.
- Set an example for teachers in punctuality, preparation, classroom discipline, communication, and academic seriousness.
4. Parent Handling and Communication
- Handle parent concerns with maturity, empathy, firmness, and professionalism.
- Act as a bridge between parents, teachers, coordinators, Principal, and Management when required.
- Ensure that parent concerns are acknowledged, documented, followed up, and resolved in a timely manner.
- Conduct parent meetings for academic concerns, discipline issues, attendance concerns, behavioural matters, and student progress reviews.
- Maintain a balanced approach that protects the interest of the child, the dignity of teachers, and the policies of the school.
5. Student Discipline and Welfare
- Support the Principal in maintaining a positive, disciplined, safe, and respectful school environment.
- Monitor student behaviour, attendance, punctuality, uniform, grooming, classroom discipline, and overall conduct.
- Work closely with teachers, coordinators, counsellors, and parents to address behavioural, emotional, academic, and attendance concerns.
- Ensure that discipline is handled fairly, sensitively, and in accordance with school policy and child protection principles.
- Promote student leadership, responsibility, values, respect, and school culture.
6. Assessment, Results and Academic Monitoring
- Monitor the quality and timely conduct of tests, exams, corrections, mark entries, report cards, and result analysis.
- Review class-wise and subject-wise performance and identify areas requiring academic intervention.
- Ensure remedial teaching, enrichment classes, and support systems are implemented for students who require help.
- Track board class performance, attendance, academic seriousness, and preparation levels.
- Support teachers in preparing students for CBSE board examinations and internal assessments.
7. School Operations and Daily Administration
- Assist in the smooth daily functioning of the school, including morning assembly, substitutions, timetable coordination, supervision duties, dispersal, break duties, and general discipline.
- Ensure that teachers and staff are punctual, prepared, and aligned with school expectations.
- Coordinate with administrative departments when academic matters intersect with transport, safety, communication, events, or student welfare.
- Support the Principal in implementing school policies, circulars, meetings, events, inspections, and management instructions.
8. Leadership, Culture and Institutional Accountability
- Build a culture of professionalism, accountability, respect, punctuality, academic seriousness, and child-centred decision-making.
- Act as a role model for teachers and students.
- Maintain confidentiality, fairness, and integrity in all school matters.
- Support the Principal and Management in strengthening the reputation, systems, and standards of the school.
- Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and ensure timely completion without repeated follow-up.
Required Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant subject.
- B.Ed. is preferred/required as per school and regulatory norms.
- Prior teaching experience in a CBSE school is essential.
- Previous experience as Vice Principal, Academic Coordinator, Senior Coordinator, HOD, Examination In-charge, or similar leadership role will be preferred.
- Good understanding of CBSE curriculum, academic planning, assessment systems, documentation, compliance, and school functioning.
Required Experience
- Minimum 7–10 years of teaching experience, preferably in a CBSE school.
- Minimum 2–3 years of academic coordination, leadership, or administrative responsibility is preferred.
- Experience in handling parents, teachers, students, academic reviews, examinations, and school documentation.
- Experience with board classes will be an added advantage.

Teaching Load

Preferred Subject Background
Candidates from any strong academic subject background may apply. Preference may be given to candidates who can teach senior or middle school classes effectively and who have experience with CBSE board classes.
