Job Summary
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and technical support of diesel and gas generator sets (gensets) at customer sites. The role requires strong technical expertise, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in field environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and test diesel/gas generator sets.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) as per maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
- Attend breakdown calls and ensure timely restoration of equipment.
- Conduct load testing and performance evaluation of gensets.
- Troubleshoot engine, alternator, AMF/ATS panels, controllers, and synchronization systems.
- Maintain service reports, inspection checklists, and maintenance records.
- Coordinate with customers regarding service schedules and technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
- Recommend spare parts and preventive actions to improve equipment reliability.
- Support warranty claims and technical investigations.
- Provide basic operational training to customers when required.
- Coordinate with the service team for spare parts and technical support.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, or related engineering discipline.
- 2–8 years of experience in servicing diesel generator sets.
- Experience with brands such as Cummins, Kirloskar, Caterpillar, Mahindra Powerol, Perkins, MTU, or similar is preferred.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, AVR, governors, PLCs, AMF/ATS panels, and generator controllers (Deep Sea, ComAp, SmartGen, etc.).
- Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
Required Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance.
- Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Good communication and customer handling skills.
- Ability to work independently at customer sites.
- Proficiency in preparing service reports using MS Office or mobile service applications.
- Valid driving license (preferred).
- Willingness to travel extensively and work on emergency breakdown calls.
Pay: ₹8,970.06 - ₹28,283.74 per month
