About the Role - Junior Purchase Officer

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Purchase Officer with 3–4 years of experience in procurement related to fabrication materials, mechanical components, and industrial equipment. The candidate should possess basic mechanical knowledge and be capable of handling procurement activities for manufacturing and supplying foundry equipment, machinery, and related industrial products.
The role involves sourcing materials, vendor coordination, purchase order management, cost negotiation, and ensuring timely availability of materials required for production and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials, fabrication items, mechanical components, electrical items, consumables, and bought-out equipment required for manufacturing operations.
- Obtain quotations from suppliers and perform comparative analysis based on cost, quality, delivery, and technical specifications.
- Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with vendors.
- Generate and process Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company procurement procedures.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Stores, and Planning departments to understand material requirements.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels and support replenishment planning to avoid production delays.
- Maintain vendor database and identify new suppliers for cost optimization and alternate sourcing.
- Verify supplier compliance with technical specifications and quality requirements.
- Track purchase orders and resolve supply-related issues, shortages, or delays.
- Assist in vendor evaluation and performance monitoring.
- Maintain procurement records, documentation, and reports.
- Ensure adherence to company purchasing policies and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 3–4 years of experience in procurement/purchasing within fabrication, engineering, manufacturing, foundry equipment, or industrial machinery sectors.
- Basic understanding of mechanical drawings, fabrication processes, and engineering materials.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word) and ERP systems preferred.
- Familiarity with procurement documentation, vendor management, and inventory coordination.
- Good negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Preferred Technical Knowledge
- Structural steel, plates, pipes, channels, beams, and fabrication materials.
- Mechanical components such as bearings, motors, gearboxes, couplings, fasteners, and power transmission items.
- Industrial equipment and machinery used in foundries and related manufacturing industries.
- Welding consumables, pneumatic components, and electrical procurement basics.
- Reading and understanding BOMs (Bill of Materials) and technical specifications.
