ROLE OVERVIEW
The Rolling Stock & Depot Maintenance Expert will provide specialised knowledge of coaching depot operations, rolling stock maintenance management, and carriage & wagon functions to support the feasibility and planning components of the Delhi Station Decongestion Study. This role is critical for assessing existing maintenance ecosystems and designing modern integrated alternatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess existing coaching depot operations, maintenance schedules, and capacity across Delhi-area maintenance facilities
- Review and document examination line procedures, POH schedules, primary/secondary maintenance operations at depots
- Apply CAMTECH guidelines, RDSO standards, and IR maintenance manuals to evaluate current and proposed depot configurations
- Provide technical inputs for functional layout planning of new integrated maintenance facilities
- Prepare maintenance capacity assessments and recommend infrastructure requirements for proposed sites
- Evaluate modern maintenance facilities including LHB coach depots, MEMU/EMU car sheds, and production unit practices
- Support comparative analysis of existing vs. proposed facility locations from a rolling stock perspective
- Contribute to final consultancy report with operational, engineering, and strategic maintenance recommendations
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Retired or deputed railway officer from JE/SSE/Technician Gr.-I (C&W) cadre or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in coaching depot operations, rolling stock maintenance management, or C&W workshop functions in Indian Railways
- Hands-on experience with examination line procedures and periodic overhauling (POH)
- Thorough knowledge of CAMTECH guidelines, RDSO standards, and IR maintenance manuals for coaching stock
- Experience preparing functional layout inputs or maintenance capacity assessments for depots/workshops
- Exposure to modern maintenance facilities such as LHB coach depots, MEMU/EMU car sheds, or ICF/RCF/MCF production units preferred
