Job Summary:
We are seeking a Lab Instructor for the Mechanical Engineering Department to support practical training, laboratory operations, and maintenance activities. The candidate will assist faculty members in conducting laboratory sessions, guide students during practical experiments, ensure proper functioning of mechanical lab equipment and machinery, and maintain safety standards within the laboratory. The role requires strong technical knowledge in mechanical engineering fundamentals, workshop practices, and laboratory management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist faculty members in conducting practical classes, laboratory sessions, and workshop activities for Mechanical Engineering students.
- Prepare and arrange laboratory equipment, tools, materials, and instruments for practical sessions.
- Demonstrate the safe operation and handling of mechanical machines, tools, and laboratory equipment to students.
- Support fabrication, machining, fitting, welding, and other workshop-based practical activities.
- Monitor students during laboratory sessions and ensure adherence to safety procedures and departmental regulations.
- Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and coordinate repairs of laboratory and workshop equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Maintain records of laboratory inventory, consumables, equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and servicing activities.
- Support practical examinations, student projects, workshops, and other departmental technical activities.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and overall safety of laboratory and workshop facilities.
- Coordinate with faculty members and departmental staff to ensure the smooth functioning of laboratory operations.
Desired Candidate Qualification
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) – mandatory.
- 2–5 years of experience in mechanical laboratory/workshop handling.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical workshop practices, tools, and machinery.
- Basic understanding of machining, welding, fitting, fabrication, and maintenance activities.
- Ability to handle laboratory equipment and conduct practical demonstrations effectively.
- Good knowledge of safety standards and laboratory procedures.
- Basic computer knowledge for maintaining records and documentation.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate with faculty members and students effectively.
- Experience in educational institutions/polytechnic/engineering colleges is preferred.
