Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair marine electrical systems onboard vessels and offshore units.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults in generators, motors, switchboards, transformers, and control panels.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on marine electrical equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and OEM manuals.
- Test, commission, and calibrate electrical systems and equipment.
- Maintain navigation, communication, alarm, and monitoring systems.
- Ensure proper functioning of AC/DC power distribution systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in automation and control systems.
- Conduct insulation resistance testing and electrical safety inspections.
- Ensure compliance with SOLAS, IMO, and other maritime regulations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports.
- Coordinate with Marine Engineers, Technical Superintendents, and Shipyard teams during repair and maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Marine Electrician in ships, shipyards, offshore vessels, or marine projects.
- Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems and power distribution networks.
- Experience in troubleshooting electrical and automation systems.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with marine safety procedures and international maritime standards.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cargo vessels, tankers, offshore support vessels, or drilling rigs.
- Knowledge of PLC systems, VFD drives, and marine automation systems.
- Experience in switchboard maintenance and generator synchronization.
