Senior QA Editor / Team Lead (Medical Transcription)
Scriptacom BPO Systems LLP | Ahmedabad, Gujarat | Work From Home
Contract | ₹30,000 – ₹40,000 per month (fixed)
Role Overview
We are hiring one experienced Senior QA Editor who will also act as Team Lead.
This is a combined role. You will be the final pair of eyes on the work that goes out to our US healthcare clients, and you will also run the daily workflow — assigning files, watching turnaround time, and keeping the team on standard.
We are looking for someone with 12 or more years in medical transcription and editing, who has grown from transcriptionist to editor to QA, and can now also handle the operations side. This is not a role for a pure manager, and not a role for an editor who has never checked anyone else's work.
Part A — Quality Assurance and Final Check
1) Final QA on delivered work
- Perform the final quality check on files before delivery to the client
- Catch errors the editor missed — medical terminology, drug names and dosages, numbers, laterality, patient demographics
- Verify formatting against each client's template and guidelines
- Maintain 100% accuracy on delivered output
2) Feedback and team quality
- Score and give written feedback to editors on their errors
- Track repeat mistakes and coach the person responsible
- Train new editors on client templates and house style
- Raise overall team accuracy over time, not just fix files one by one
Part B — Team Leader Duties
3) Daily workflow
- Assign files to editors through the day and rebalance as volume changes
- Manage urgent and priority jobs
- Ensure smooth flow from FTP to transcription to editing to delivery
- Step in and do the work yourself if a file is stuck or an editor is short
4) Turnaround time and client delivery
- Watch TAT on every client and every file
- Handle late-arriving files from US doctors so nothing misses its deadline
- Respond quickly to operational or client-side problems
5) Team handling
- Supervise transcriptionists and editors day to day
- Balance workload according to each person's real capability
- Manage absenteeism, delays and sudden volume spikes
6) Problem solving
- Resolve incorrect file names, patient mismatch, missing or delayed files, FTP and folder errors
- Take decisions on the spot instead of waiting for escalation
7) File, data and client management
- Manage multiple client FTPs and folder systems
- Follow file naming and folder conventions strictly
- Prevent any data mix-up between clients
- Maintain strict confidentiality — HIPAA awareness preferred
8) Reporting
- Track daily files processed, lines completed, pending workload and editor productivity
- Keep the tracking sheet or dashboard accurate and current
Working Arrangement
- Work from home. You may be based anywhere in India.
- Timing is flexible. Work generally runs from early morning to late evening.
- There is no fixed shift, but if files arrive late in the evening or at night, you are expected to handle them.
- Working week is Monday to Saturday.
- We follow the US holiday calendar, not the Indian one.
- This is a contract engagement, not employment. It is open-ended with no fixed end date. How long it continues depends on quality of work and commitment.
Mandatory Requirements (non-negotiable)
- 12+ years hands-on experience in medical transcription and editing
- Proven experience as a QA or final checker — not just editing your own files
- Strong in both VRE (Voice Recognition Editing) and DMT (Direct Medical Transcription)
- Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, drug names and dosages
- Demonstrated ability to handle difficult audio and fast dictation
- Some experience leading, allocating work to, or supervising a team
- Reliable internet, a working computer, and a quiet place to work
Core Skills
- Very high attention to detail
- Strong listening and comprehension
- Fast typing and editing speed
- Ability to make decisions under time pressure
- Consistency — the same standard on day 60 as on day 1
- Basic technical comfort with FTP, Google Drive and MS Word
What We Are Not Looking For
- Pure managers with no hands-on transcription or editing background
- Editors who have never done final QA on someone else's work
- Anyone who cannot handle occasional late-night or urgent files
- Inconsistent performers, or anyone with a history of low accuracy
How You Will Be Measured
- Accuracy of the files you sign off on
- Client error reports and complaints
- TAT adherence across the team
- Improvement in the accuracy of the editors you coach
- Punctuality and responsiveness
Compensation
₹30,000 – ₹40,000 per month, fixed, based on experience and capability. Contract engagement.
Selection Process
- Apply with your resume and a short note on your QA experience
- We send a confidentiality agreement (NDA) for you to sign
- After the signed NDA, you receive a short practical test of real files
- You return the completed files and we score them
- Shortlisted candidates are interviewed
