Job Summary
The PYP Dance & Drama Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences in dance and drama aligned with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). The teacher will foster creativity, self-expression, confidence, collaboration, and communication skills through movement, storytelling, performance, and theatrical activities for primary school students.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate dance and drama lessons aligned with IB PYP philosophy and framework.
- Create inquiry-driven and student-centered learning experiences through performing arts.
- Teach foundational skills in movement, rhythm, improvisation, acting, storytelling, voice modulation, and stage presence.
- Encourage creativity, collaboration, and confidence through performances and classroom activities.
- Integrate dance and drama with Units of Inquiry and transdisciplinary themes where appropriate.
- Prepare students for assemblies, productions, annual functions, exhibitions, and school events.
- Assess and document student progress through observations, performances, portfolios, and reflections.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers, specialists, and the PYP Coordinator for curriculum planning and school initiatives.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and IB training workshops.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Performing Arts, Dance, Drama, Theatre, or related field.
- Professional training or certification in dance and/or drama.
- Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB PYP or international school.
- Understanding of IB philosophy and inquiry-based learning.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with primary-age students.
- Knowledge of multiple dance styles and drama techniques.
- Ability to direct and choreograph school performances.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to integrate music, movement, and theatre into learning experiences.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹23,000.00 per month
