As we expand our export business across Europe and global markets, we are looking for an experienced Product Development & Engineering Head to lead our product innovation and engineering initiatives.
Position Summary
The Product Development & Engineering Head will lead the complete product lifecycle from concept development to production-ready execution.
The ideal candidate will combine strong design sensibilities with practical manufacturing knowledge and be capable of transforming market trends into commercially successful, production-efficient furniture collections.
This role will directly influence product strategy, cost engineering, KD development, packaging optimization, and manufacturing efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Development
- Develop new furniture collections for export markets.
- Research international furniture trends and translate them into commercially viable products.
- Lead concept development for dining tables, occasional furniture, storage, hospitality, and contract furniture.
- Build annual product roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
Engineering & Technical Development
- Create production-ready products with complete technical documentation.
- Develop KD (Knock Down) solutions optimized for export logistics.
- Improve structural performance and product reliability.
- Standardize hardware systems and construction methods.
- Lead prototype development and validation.
Cost Engineering
- Optimize BOMs and reduce production costs without compromising quality.
- Identify opportunities for material and labor savings.
- Improve packaging efficiency and container utilization.
- Support sourcing and vendor development activities.
Manufacturing Collaboration
- Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth product launches.
- Resolve technical issues during sampling and production.
- Improve manufacturability of existing products.
- Establish product engineering standards.
Export Readiness
- Develop assembly manuals and installation instructions.
- Prepare packaging specifications and export documentation.
- Ensure products meet international quality expectations.
- Support buyer development and product presentations.
Team Leadership
- Lead product designers, CAD engineers, and sampling teams.
- Establish development timelines and project milestones.
- Mentor junior engineering and design staff.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Degree or Diploma in Furniture Design
- Industrial Design
- Product Design
- Mechanical Engineering
- Wood Technology
- Interior Product Design
Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
Required ExperienceMinimum Experience
- 8+ years in furniture product development
- 3+ years in a leadership role
