Plan, organize and ensure achievement of production targets of Post Extrusion meeting targeted quantity, recovery and other efficiencies within budgeted cost and to support despatch and export for the overall achievement of the extrusion P&B
Job Context: The Alupuram Works is having two extrusion presses installed in 1955 and 1965 respectively. Certain up gradations were made to the machinery over the years. The capacity of the plant, which was 8000 tons per annum in 2002, has increased to 13800 TPA during the current year. The competition in the extrusion business is extremely severe. Plant offers wide range of alloys and shapes in India. Business concentrates on value added applications such as Defence, Bridges, Automobile, Marine and other electrical applications.
Job Challenges:This position is supporting the planning and dispatch section, which is entrusted the responsibility of post extrusion activities, dispatch and entire excise functions of Alupuram plant. Alupuram Plant is keeping the finished goods inventory of extrusion products in line with Business targets through effective planning of despatch activities in line with statutory needs of excise. This is being done by co-ordinating with central excise, Production Dept on customer requirements on a day-to-day basis. Daily meeting with Head of Planning & Despatch, Post Extrusion Section Head & interacting with sales personnel/customers regarding despatch details and order status are part of this. This position is coordinating with logistics department to ensure the dispatch of documents on time to help the organization to collect the revenue from customer; any small slippage can cause huge loss to organization. The position also has to coordinate the material movement across various machine centres in the post extrusion department ensuring minimum lead time and maximum efficiency.
Major challenges involve (1) adopting customer specific practice for over 700 customers, (2) maintain in-sourcing and out-sourcing activity of packing extruded products, (3) provide value added services as per customer requirement (4) provide cost effective packing methods.

ii) Plan packing activities by coordinating with marketing, despatch and post extrusion teams
iii) Maintain minimum inventories and up keeping of book stocks
iv) Developing alternative vendors for cutting and rectification activities, coordination with existing service providers for improving quality and delivery
v) Coordination with marketing and extrusion planning for faster processing of WIP to achieve desired OTIF targets
vi) Maintaining WIP inventory and packing material inventories as per the P&B
