Plant Head - Steel Service Center (Steel Coils)
Job Purpose:-The Plant Head will oversee the end-to-end operations of a steel service center specializing in the processing and handling of steel coils (HR, CR, GP). This includes production, quality, safety, maintenance, and overall efficiency. The role demands strong leadership, operational expertise, and the ability to optimize resources to achieve organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plant Operations:Oversee daily operations, ensuring seamless production of steel coils, including slitting, shearing, and cutting.Implement and monitor production schedules to meet customer demands while ensuring optimal resource utilization.Maintain equipment and infrastructure for consistent quality and productivity.
2. Leadership & Team Management:Manage and mentor a team of supervisors, engineers, and operators.Drive a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability across the workforce.Conduct regular training sessions to enhance technical and operational skills
3. Quality Assurance:Ensure products meet customer specifications and industry standards.Lead quality audits and address non-conformities through root cause analysis.Work closely with the quality control team to maintain certifications and adherence to ISO or other applicable standards.
4. Maintenance & Safety:Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.Enforce strict safety protocols and ensure compliance with statutory and environmental regulations.Conduct safety drills and regular equipment inspections.
5. Cost & Resource Optimization:Monitor and control operating expenses, striving for cost-effective production without compromising quality.Ensure optimal inventory levels for raw materials and finished goods.Negotiate with vendors for equipment, raw materials, and services.
6. Customer Focus:Work closely with the sales and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and high customer satisfaction.Address customer complaints effectively and implement corrective actions.
7. Reporting & Analysis:Prepare and present regular reports on production, safety, efficiency, and cost metrics.Use data analytics to identify areas for process improvements and cost reductions.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Production Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree/MBA is a plus.Minimum 10 years of experience in steel processing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Strong understanding of steel coil processing operations (slitting, shearing, leveling, etc.).Familiarity with ERP systems and production planning tools.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.Understanding of market trends and customer requirements in the steel industry.Experience in automation or advanced manufacturing technologies is an advantage.
