Job Description – Head of Operations

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced, technically strong and system-driven Head of Operations to manage and streamline the company’s end-to-end manufacturing operations.
The candidate will be responsible for managing and integrating Stores, Inventory, Dispatch, Logistics and overall operational processes, while ensuring operational efficiency, process discipline, cost control and timely execution.
The ideal candidate should be capable of building processes from scratch, creating SOPs, identifying process gaps, implementing systems and driving continuous improvement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities1. End-to-End Operations Management
- Take complete ownership of the overall operational cycle from Stores → Quality → Packing → Dispatch.
- Ensure smooth coordination between all operational functions.
- Monitor operational bottlenecks and take timely corrective actions.
- Establish clear ownership, accountability and timelines for each process.
- Ensure operations are system-driven rather than person-dependent.
- Ensure smooth coordination between cross-functional teams for timely execution.
2. Stores & Inventory Management
- Manage complete Stores and Inventory operations.
- Ensure proper inward, inspection, storage, issuance and material movement.
- Maintain accurate inventory through system-based controls.
- Monitor stock levels and material availability.
- Identify slow-moving, excess, obsolete and non-moving inventory.
- Ensure regular physical stock verification and system reconciliation.
- Improve inventory accuracy and reduce material shortages.
- Establish proper controls for material handling and movement.
3. Dispatch & Logistics
- Oversee finished goods dispatch and logistics operations.
- Ensure timely and accurate dispatch against committed timelines.
- Monitor pending, delayed and held orders and ensure timely closure.
- Coordinate with relevant teams for smooth dispatch execution.
- Ensure proper packing, loading, documentation and dispatch processes.
- Track transporter performance and delivery timelines.
- Identify recurring dispatch issues and implement corrective actions.
4. Process Development & SOP Management
- Develop, document and implement SOPs for all major operational functions.
- Create clear workflows, process maps and responsibility matrices.
- Review existing processes and identify process gaps, duplication, bottlenecks and accountability issues.
- Establish standard processes to reduce dependency on individuals.
- Ensure SOPs are practically implemented and followed by teams.
- Conduct periodic process audits and update SOPs based on operational requirements.
- Define Stage Owner, Task Owner, TAT and escalation matrix for critical processes.
- Establish checks and controls to prevent recurring operational issues.
5. System, Process & Continuous Improvement
- Drive a system-oriented, process-driven and data-driven culture across operations.
- Ensure maximum utilisation of ERP/OMS and other operational systems instead of manual dependency.
- Identify gaps in existing systems and recommend practical improvements.
- Ensure accurate and timely system updates by respective teams.
- Develop operational dashboards and tracking mechanisms for effective monitoring.
- Use system data for operational decision-making and performance tracking.
- Continuously identify opportunities for cost reduction, productivity improvement and process optimisation.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring operational problems and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Identify gaps between defined processes and actual execution and ensure timely closure.
- Reduce operational delays, wastage, rejection, rework and idle time.
- Continuously review and improve existing SOPs and workflows.
- Drive implementation of improved processes and ensure measurable results.
6. Team Management & Accountability
- Lead teams across Stores, Dispatch and Operations.
- Define KRAs, KPIs and performance standards for functional teams.
- Establish accountability at every stage of the operational cycle.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and operational meetings.
- Identify skill gaps and arrange appropriate training.
- Build a culture of ownership, discipline and timely execution.
- Ensure team members follow defined SOPs and system processes.

Candidate Profile
- Experience: 12–18 years in Manufacturing / Operations.
- Strong experience in end-to-end manufacturing operations.
- Must have hands-on exposure to Stores, Inventory, Factory Operations and Dispatch.
- Strong technical and operational understanding.
- Proven ability to manage multiple functions and operational teams.
- Should be system-driven, process-oriented and data-driven.
- Must have experience in SOP creation, process mapping and process implementation.
- Strong ability to identify process gaps, analyse root causes and implement solutions.
- Experience with ERP/OMS/MIS and digital process management is preferred.
- Strong leadership, decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, target-driven manufacturing environment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should be someone who can take complete ownership of operations, not just manage teams.
He/She should be able to:

The candidate should have the capability to transform operations from people-dependent and reactive working to a structured, process-driven and system-driven operation.
Preferred Industry Experience
Candidates from Lighting, Electrical, Engineering, Consumer Durables, Furniture, Project Manufacturing or similar custom/manufacturing industries will be preferred.
