JOB DESCRIPTION ,OFFICER ADMINISTRATION Department : Linen & Laundry , Transport & Courier
Job SummaryThe Hospital Laundry & Transport In-Charge is responsible for overseeing all laundry operations and hospital transport/courier services to ensure hygienic, timely, safe, and cost-effective handling of hospital linen, patient garments, internal logistics, and external dispatches, in compliance with infection control, safety, and hospital operational standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesA. Laundry Operations Management Supervise daily laundry operations including collection, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distribution
- Ensure segregation of infected and non-infected linen as per Infection Control protocols
- Maintain adequate stock of clean linen for all departments
- Coordinate timely pickup and delivery of laundry across hospital areas
B. Quality & Infection Control Ensure compliance with hospital hygiene, infection control, and biomedical waste policies
- Conduct surprise audits of outsourced laundry services quarterly to verify washing standards
- Inspect linen for cleanliness, damage, and wear; initiate repair or condemnation
C. Staff & Driver Supervision
- Allocate duties and manage laundry staff, drivers, and courier personnel shifts and attendance
- Monitor daily presence, punctuality, and leave records of drivers and support staff
- Train staff and drivers on hygiene, safety, hospital etiquette, and emergency response
- Enforce discipline and professional code of conduct while on duty
D. Equipment, Vehicle & Linen Inventory Oversee laundry machinery operations and preventive maintenance
- Ensure hospital vehicles undergo routine servicing, cleaning, and statutory checks
- Maintain records for vehicle maintenance, insurance, PUC, permits, and fitness certificates
- Maintain linen inventory, new indents, and condemnation of unusable linen
E. Transport Operations
Manage patient transport, staff movement, linen logistics, camps, and material movement Maintain laundry records, linen movement logs, vehicle logbooks, and courier registers
- Schedule and optimize vehicle usage for efficiency and timely service
- Ensure vehicle hygiene and infection control compliance
- Monitor fuel consumption and misuse prevention
F. Courier & Dispatch Management Supervise courier dispatch and receipt of reports, samples, medicines, and documents
- Maintain tracking logs and proof of delivery
- Ensure confidentiality and secure packaging of sensitive items
- Handle urgent and priority medical consignments
G. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare periodic reports on linen consumption, transport utilization, losses, and costs
- Support audits and compliance review
H. Safety & Compliance Ensure adherence to infection control, workplace safety, and fire safety norms
- Promote PPE usage and safe handling procedures
- Ensure drivers follow traffic laws, hospital protocols, and emergency proceduresAny other job as assigned by the management from time to time
