ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager – Design to lead manufacturing drawing and BOM preparation for our Bengaluru operations, coordinate closely with Production, Purchase, and Vendors, and drive design projects to completion within timelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and review BOM preparation for standard and special designs, ensuring accuracy across all aspects.
- Prepare and approve production drawings and cutting plans for new and existing designs.
- Guide the design team on cut-out details, mock-ups, and design validation for new products.
- Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Stores, and Vendors to ensure smooth execution of projects.
- Review and approve vendor quotes for outsourced components, and follow up on delivery timelines.
- Release drawings to vendors and monitor outsourced job orders for quality and cost compliance.
- Raise and approve indents to Purchase/Store for brought-out components and new requirements.
- Ensure projects are delivered within defined timelines and escalate delays proactively.
- Maintain systematic records of drawings, BOMs, and project documentation.
- Support certification and audit requirements with accurate design and process data.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers within the Design & Planning team.
- Report progress and issues to the Manager / Department Head on a regular basis.
- Design and detail modular office furniture components — workstations, storage systems, seating, and partitions — in laminate, veneer, and metal finishes.
- Ensure drawings and BOMs factor in panel/board sizes, edge-banding, and optimal cutting to minimise material wastage.
- Coordinate with the Ergonomics/Product team to translate concepts into manufacturable furniture designs.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant furniture standards (BIFMA / ISO / IS) for strength, safety, and durability.
REQUIREMENTS
- 8–9 years of experience in furniture, engineering, or allied manufacturing design function.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD / SolidWorks is mandatory.
- Sound knowledge of raw materials, manufacturing processes, and BOM structuring.
- Prior experience in vendor coordination and outsourced production is preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-handling skills.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Design Engineering.
- Flexible with working hours as per project requirements.
- Prior experience in office/modular furniture design is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of furniture raw materials — MDF, particle board, plywood, laminates, veneers, powder-coated metal, and upholstery.
Pay: ₹800,000.99 - ₹900,000.61 per year
