Machine Shop Supervisor
Job Summary
The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily machining operations, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, productivity, and cost efficiency. The role involves supervising machine shop personnel, optimizing machine utilization, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring adherence to shop floor standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and troubleshoot VMC and CNC Turning Machines with Fanuc Control.
- Monitor machine utilization on an hourly basis and implement corrective actions to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
- Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings to ensure accurate machining of components.
- Possess sound knowledge of cutting tools, tool selection, fixtures, and machining parameters.
- Achieve daily and shift-wise production targets in terms of quality, quantity, and delivery.
- Analyze production rejections, identify root causes, and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Supervise and manage a team of approximately 25 shop floor personnel per shift, ensuring discipline, safety, and productivity.
- Control inventory and work-in-progress (WIP) to minimize costs and improve inventory accuracy.
- Drive productivity improvement, cycle time reduction, process optimization, and cost-saving projects.
- Ensure strict implementation of 5S practices and maintain world-class housekeeping and shop floor standards.
- Prepare daily production reports, utilization reports, and MIS using MS Office applications.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of experience in CNC machining operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of VMC and CNC Turning operations using Fanuc Control.
- Good understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixtures, and engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective leadership, communication, and manpower management abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) for reporting and data analysis.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
