Project Manager (PMO - Engineering Services)
Position Summary
The Project Manager will support project delivery within Engineering Services (GES), working directly with the Sr. Director, Engineering Services. This role is part of the initial deployment of PMO capabilities into Engineering Services and is intended to establish a scalable model for delivery governance, execution discipline, and performance visibility beyond IT.
The role will initially support the Sr. Director in coordination, reporting, and governance activities, with transition to ownership of defined delivery workstreams and governance adoption activities within the first 3-6 weeks.
This role acts as the PMO delegate to the Sr. Director, Engineering Services, with responsibility for delivery governance, stage-gate readiness, intake quality, forecast cadence, variance visibility, and escalation across assigned initiatives.
Working Hours
- US (EST): 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- India (IST): 6:30 PM - 2:30 AM
Role Scope
- Typically supports 3-6 concurrent initiatives
- Typical initiative duration ranges from 8-24 weeks
- Portfolio mix may include compliance and validation activities, standards adoption, reliability and availability initiatives, operational readiness, and engineering-led improvement programs aligned to GES priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Own end-to-end delivery management for assigned initiatives, including planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and closure
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, milestones, dependencies, and action tracking
- Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure timely execution of deliverables and resolution of delivery risks
- Monitor progress against scope, schedule, key risks, and agreed operational outcomes
- End-to-end ownership includes baseline plan, RAID, change control impacts, stakeholder sign-offs, and closure with outcomes/benefits review
Governance
- Apply PMO standards, governance requirements, and stage-gate expectations across assigned initiatives
- Review intake submissions for completeness, quality, and alignment to defined standards before progression
- Ensure required governance artifacts are complete and current per stage-gate expectations
- Support adoption of structured delivery practices within Engineering Services
- Governance forums include weekly initiative reviews and monthly steering reviews with Engineering Services leadership, or equivalent established cadence
Stage-Gate Readiness
Ensure stage-gate readiness through completion and review of applicable project artifacts, including:
- Project scope and charter
- Requirements and URS traceability, where applicable
- RAID log and mitigation actions
- Change control impacts
- Validation or qualification plan, where applicable
- Baseline schedule and milestone plan
- Required stakeholder reviews and sign-offs
Decision Rights
- Acts as PMO delegate for the Sr. Director, Engineering Services, with delegated governance authority
- Has authority to hold stage-gate progression until required criteria are met
- May reject, return, or defer intake submissions that do not meet minimum governance, documentation, or readiness requirements
- Escalates unresolved compliance, delivery, or performance issues through established governance forums
Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with the Sr. Director, Engineering Services, Engineering Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT
- Provide clear, timely, and structured communication on project status, decisions required, delivery risks, and mitigation actions
- Facilitate governance reviews, status reviews, and follow-up actions across workstreams
Financial Performance Management
- Support project forecasting, variance monitoring, and performance reporting across assigned initiatives
- Engineering Managers retain approval authority and ownership of project budget and spend
- The Project Manager is responsible for forecast cadence, variance visibility, and escalation of delivery or financial risks through established governance forums
- Ensure financial reporting inputs are complete, timely, and aligned to agreed review cadences
Performance Tracking and Reporting
- Prepare project status reports, executive summaries, governance materials, and performance updates
- Track delivery against milestones, risks, dependencies, forecast updates, and agreed business outcomes
- Support post-implementation review and performance tracking activities, where applicable
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field
- PMP certification required
- Minimum 3 years of project delivery ownership in an engineering, manufacturing, quality, or regulated operations environment
- Demonstrated ownership of at least 2 cross-functional projects end-to-end, from planning through closure
- Demonstrated stakeholder management across cross-functional teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning, organization, and execution discipline
Required Experience
Candidates must demonstrate direct delivery ownership or governance enforcement, not observation-only support, in at least one of the following areas:
- Audit readiness support or regulatory inspection support
- Validation or CQV activities, including digital validation platforms such as Kneat
- Engineering standards, URS governance, or standards adoption
- Deviation reduction, batch release time improvement, or right-first-time enablement
- Reliability or availability programs for mission-critical assets
- CapEx qualification support or final engineering reviews
These areas align directly to GES priorities across quality, compliance, reliability, operational readiness, and engineering execution.
Preferred Experience
- Engineering, manufacturing, plant, or operations project environments
- Cross-functional delivery involving Engineering, Quality, Operations, and IT
- Capital project support, qualification activities, or operational improvement programs
- Use of project or portfolio management tools such as Planview, MS Project, ServiceNow, or equivalent
