Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Financial Counsellor to support patients and families in understanding hospital billing, insurance coverage, payment options, and financial assistance programs. The candidate will work closely with patients, insurance providers, billing teams, and hospital departments to ensure smooth financial counselling and revenue cycle processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Counsel patients regarding hospital charges, insurance benefits, payment plans, and financial obligations.
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and coverage details.
- Assist patients in completing financial assistance and government scheme applications.
- Explain billing procedures, estimate treatment costs, and discuss payment arrangements.
- Coordinate with billing, admissions, and insurance departments for claim processing and issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate patient financial records and documentation in hospital systems.
- Follow up on pending insurance claims, denials, and patient balances.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, insurance regulations, and confidentiality standards.
- Support revenue cycle management activities to improve collections and patient satisfaction.
- Handle patient queries and provide professional customer service.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Financial Counsellor, Billing Executive, or Insurance Coordinator in a hospital/healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of health insurance processes, cashless claims, TPA coordination, and billing systems.
- Familiarity with NABH standards and healthcare compliance is preferred.
- Strong communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
