Job Description – Engineer QA/QC (Civil)
Location: Chennai
Reports To: Head – QA/QC
Experience Required: 3–8 Years
Qualification: DCE / B.E - B.Tech – Civil Engineering
Industry Preference: Residential Real Estate / Construction
Role Purpose:
The QA/QC Engineer (Civil) is responsible for ensuring construction quality standards are maintained across project activities by implementing quality assurance systems, conducting inspections, verifying workmanship, and ensuring compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and IS codes.
Key Responsibilities1. Quality Assurance & Control
- Implement and monitor QA/QC procedures for civil and finishing works at site.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, IS codes, and company quality standards.
- Maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), checklists, and quality control procedures.
2. Site Inspection & Monitoring
- Conduct regular inspections for RCC works, shuttering, reinforcement, blockwork, plastering, waterproofing, tiling, painting, and finishing works.
- Monitor concrete quality including slump test, cube casting, curing, and mix compliance.
- Verify workmanship standards and ensure corrective actions for deviations.
3. Material Quality Verification
- Inspect incoming materials such as cement, steel, aggregates, RMC, tiles, and finishing materials.
- Coordinate with third-party testing agencies for material testing and quality verification.
- Ensure all materials meet approved specifications and standards.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain QA/QC documentation including inspection reports, material approvals, test reports, NCRs, and corrective action reports.
- Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for deviations and track closure.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports to management.
5. Contractor Quality Monitoring
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Conduct joint inspections and ensure pre-pour and pre-closure approvals.
- Monitor contractor quality performance and suggest improvements.
6. Handover Quality & Snag Control
- Conduct pre-handover inspections and snag identification.
- Ensure defect-free handover by coordinating with site teams for timely closure of snags.
- Support CRM and handover teams during final inspections.
7. Safety & Quality Compliance
- Coordinate with safety teams to ensure quality activities align with safety procedures.
- Ensure site quality processes comply with statutory and company standards.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures and IS codes.
- Good understanding of RCC, finishing works, waterproofing, and high-rise construction standards.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office preferred.
Preferred Profile
- Experience in residential high-rise projects preferred.
- Exposure to ISO/QMS quality systems is an added advantage.
- Ability to work independently at project site.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
