Job Summary
The Physician Assistant will support oncologists in providing high-quality care to cancer patients. The role involves assisting in patient assessment, treatment procedures, documentation, and coordination of patient care throughout diagnosis and treatment.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist oncologists during patient consultations and examinations
- Record patient medical history, symptoms, and vital signs
- Prepare patients for chemotherapy, procedures, and treatments
- Assist doctors during minor procedures and interventions
- Monitor patient condition and report any changes to the oncologist
- Provide pre-treatment and post-treatment patient care
Patient Care Responsibilities
- Counsel patients and families regarding treatment procedures
- Provide emotional support and guidance to cancer patients
- Educate patients about medications, treatment plans, and follow-up
Documentation Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment details
- Prepare discharge summaries and reports
- Update EMR / hospital records regularly
Coordination Responsibilities
- Coordinate with nursing staff, lab, and other departments
- Assist in scheduling treatments and follow-ups
- Ensure smooth patient flow in the oncology department
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Follow hospital protocols and safety standards
- Support oncologist in day-to-day clinical activities
Required Skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach
- Basic clinical and oncology knowledge
- Documentation and computer skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)
- Experience in Oncology / Cancer Hospital
- Experience in Chemotherapy assistance
