Lead Engineer – Interior core & quality (Cockpit /Seat) Chennai, Pune · Full-time · Hybrid
About the Role The Lead Engineer will ensure design robustness for all interior components throughout the development cycle, collaborating with Global and Technical Centre teams to validate design solutions and manage packaging, manufacturing, and assembly feasibility studies. The role involves driving continuous quality improvement initiatives and interfacing with cross-functional teams to ensure quality integration across development stages. Success in this role means delivering high-quality interior components that meet regulatory guidelines and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure design robustness for all interior components throughout the development cycle.
- Validate that all design solutions conform to Design Practice requirements, internal standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct design reviews in collaboration with Global and Technical Centre teams.
- Manage packaging, manufacturing, and assembly feasibility studies for interior components.
- Review and approve Technical Data Sheets and DVP&R for interior components.
- Validate packaging and clearance studies, ensuring compliance with specifications and avoidance of interference risks in the assembly.
- Validate and approve DFMEA and DVP&R, ensuring alignment with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Oversee CAD data finalization prior to STEP releases and TKO, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Collect and integrate proactive quality documents to address quality aspects during the concept phase.
- Interface with cross-functional teams to ensure quality integration across development stages.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives, including defect prevention, cost optimization, weight control, and lessons learned implementation.
Requirements
- Develop and maintain Design Scorecards for each program milestone.
- Capture and publish Lessons Learned, updating relevant design practices and interior standards.
- Create harmonized documentation for interior components.
- Analyze launch and field issues, performing root cause analysis using tools such as 3L, 5-Why, and Fishbone diagrams.
- Hold a B.E./B. Tech or M.E/ M. Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Production and Industrial Engineering.
- Have 8 to 10 years of Product Design & development experience in automotive Components: Cockpit, Seats.
- Have working experience in Component & System level designing.
- Have good knowledge in UG or CATIA modeling, Surfacing and Ennovia.
- Have good knowledge in Manufacturing & Assembly feasibility study.
- Have work experience with International Tier 1 and OEMS.
- Have knowledge in Injection molding process.
