Job Summary
Skyfer Logistic is seeking an AI Specialist to join our team in Chennai. This is a full-time, on-site role focused on developing, maintaining, and improving AI-powered applications, CargoWise automations, system integrations, workflow automations, and internal business tools.
The selected candidate will work closely with leadership and operational teams to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions across freight operations, pricing, customer service, documentation, finance, and management reporting.
This is a hands-on position for someone with practical experience in AI technologies, software development, system integration, and business-process automation. Familiarity with CargoWise or freight-forwarding operations is preferred, and training can be provided to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI-powered applications and workflow automations.
- Build, maintain, and improve CargoWise workflows, configurations, reports, integrations, and operational automations.
- Automate processes involving shipments, freight inquiries, quotations, pricing, documentation, customer communication, and internal approvals.
- Integrate CargoWise with other applications using APIs, webhooks, databases, middleware, and external services.
- Develop automation solutions using Python and suitable workflow or cloud platforms.
- Integrate large language models and generative AI into business processes using prompts, structured outputs, document retrieval, tool calling, and validation controls.
- Build solutions to process emails, shipment instructions, invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, arrival notices, rate sheets, quotations, and other logistics documents.
- Work with structured and unstructured data to support automation and business applications.
- Collaborate with operations, pricing, customer service, finance, and management teams to identify and prioritise automation opportunities.
- Translate operational requirements and process maps into technical workflows and integrations.
- Implement human review and approval controls for business-critical AI outputs and automated actions.
- Monitor deployed solutions, troubleshoot failures, and improve accuracy, security, performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Implement testing, logging, audit trails, error handling, retry mechanisms, access controls, and data-protection measures.
- Maintain source code, configuration records, technical documentation, process documentation, and user guides.
- Support user acceptance testing, deployment, employee training, and adoption of new solutions.
- Provide ongoing support for AI, CargoWise, and automation initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least two years of experience in software development, AI application development, business automation, system integration, data engineering, or a related technical role.
- Strong working knowledge of Python.
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON, XML, webhooks, authentication methods, and third-party integrations.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
- Practical understanding of generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, structured outputs, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Experience with business-process or workflow automation platforms.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate operational requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, collaborate with non-technical teams, and document solutions clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft Ecosystem, CargoWise, freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Experience with CargoWise eAdaptor, XML messaging, APIs, workflow configuration, triggers, document management, reports, or data integrations.
- Knowledge of air freight, ocean freight, trucking, pricing, customs coordination, and shipment documentation.
- A portfolio or demonstrable examples of AI, automation, software-development, or system-integration projects.
- Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, semantic search, embeddings, vector databases, document extraction, or AI evaluation.
- Experience integrating Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Excel.
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with OCR, intelligent document processing, data extraction, and document classification.
- Understanding of application monitoring, role-based access control, cloud security, and data privacy.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who understands technology and is interested in applying it to freight-forwarding operations. The candidate should be comfortable working with business users, identifying operational challenges, and converting them into reliable AI, integration, and automation solutions.
The candidate does not need to be an AI researcher or machine learning scientist. However, they must be able to apply AI responsibly within real business workflows and support integrations with CargoWise and other company systems.
