A transformer winder is generally responsible for winding the coils that make up the transformer. This involves using specialized machinery and tools to wrap the wire around a core, following precise measurements and instructions.
1. Experience in transformer winding (1000 KVA to 5000 KVA, 11/.433 KV )
DISC AND LAYER WINDING.
(a) Layer winding (Round and strip copper)
(b) Single and double layer Foil winding
(c) Continuous winding
(d) Helical winding
(e) Semi helical winding
KNOWLEDGE OF FOLLOWING IS COMPULSORY.
(a) Fully aware of brazing technics of copper.
(b) To read/understand the winding drawings.
(c) Knowledge of use of micro meter Vernier caliper.
2. Winds new coils on armatures, stators, or rotors of used motors and generators.
3. Tests windings for motor-housing clearance, grounds, and short circuits, using clearance gauge, growler, spring-steel blade, telephone receiver, insulation tester, and resistance bridge.
4. Twists leads together to connect coils.
5. Cuts, strips, and bends wire leads at ends of coils, using pliers and wire scrapers.
6. Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed and types of parts to be processed.
