1. Supervise Daily Logistics Operations
The logistics supervisor is responsible for overseeing all daily transportation and delivery activities. This includes ensuring vehicles are dispatched on time, drivers follow schedules, and shipments move smoothly without delays.
2. Coordinate with Drivers, Vendors, and Warehouse Teams
The supervisor must maintain communication with drivers, transport vendors, and warehouse staff to ensure goods are picked up, transported, and delivered correctly. Proper coordination helps avoid confusion, delays, and operational issues.
3. Track Shipments and Ensure Timely Delivery
They must monitor shipments from dispatch to final delivery. Using tracking systems or regular updates from drivers, the supervisor ensures that goods reach the destination on time and informs the management if any delay occurs.
4. Maintain Logistics Records and Documentation
The supervisor maintains records such as delivery challans, invoices, transport bills, vehicle logs, and shipment reports. Proper documentation helps in tracking shipments, verifying deliveries, and maintaining operational transparency.
5. Monitor Vehicle Movement and Route Planning
The supervisor checks the movement of company vehicles through GPS or tracking systems. They also plan efficient routes to reduce travel time, fuel consumption, and delivery delays.
6. Resolve Delivery or Transportation Issues
If there are problems such as vehicle breakdown, traffic delays, missing documents, or customer complaints, the logistics supervisor must quickly find solutions to ensure the delivery process continues smoothly.
7. Ensure Compliance with Company Policies and Safety Standards
The supervisor must ensure all logistics operations follow company rules, transport regulations, and safety guidelines. This includes checking driver documents, vehicle condition, and proper handling of goods.
8. Manage Inventory Movement Between Locations
The supervisor oversees the transfer of goods between warehouses, branches, or clients. They ensure the correct quantity of goods is dispatched and received, and that stock records are updated properly.
