Job Overview
The QC Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality of steel fabrication and erection activities at the project site through inspections, testing, and compliance with project specifications and quality standards. Candidates based in Jamnagar, Gujarat will be preferred or willing to relocate to Jamnagar may also apply.
Core Responsibilities
- Carry out quality control inspections for structural steel fabrication and erection activities at the project site.
- Verify incoming materials, Mill Test Certificates (MTCs), and ensure material traceability.
- Perform fit-up, welding, visual, and dimensional inspections as per approved drawings and project specifications.
- Coordinate with Client representatives and Third-Party Inspection (TPI) agencies for inspections and approvals.
- Coordinate and witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities such as UT, RT, MT, and PT, as per project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), and applicable quality standards.
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports, quality records, material inspection reports, and test certificates.
- Identify non-conformities, raise NCRs, and monitor corrective actions until closure.
- Coordinate with site execution teams to ensure timely inspection clearances and quality compliance.
- Verify surface preparation, painting, coating thickness, and final inspection before handover.
- Participate in client inspections, punch point clearance, and final quality acceptance activities.
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in quality control for structural steel fabrication and erection projects.
- NDT Level II Certification will be preferred.
- Experience in EPC, industrial, refinery, Oil & Gas, Power or infrastructure projects will be an added advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding inspection & erection quality requirements.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as IS, AWS, ASME & project specifications.
- Hands-on experience in welding inspection, dimensional inspection, and coordination of NDT activities.
- Proficiency in reading fabrication drawings and quality documentation.
- Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
