Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Technical Design Engineer to join our Technical Department. The role is responsible for the development and optimization of new and existing cable products, providing technical support for material and design-related challenges, improving product reliability and cost efficiency, and supporting vendor development and product qualification activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Engineering
- Prepare cable design calculations based on customer specifications, technical requirements, and drawings.
- Develop cable construction details, including conductor sizing, insulation thickness, shielding, armouring, bedding, and outer sheath specifications.
- Design power, control, and instrumentation cables in compliance with applicable standards.
- Verify manufacturing parameters and ensure design feasibility for production.
Costing & Material Planning
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM) for various cable designs.
- Calculate raw material consumption requirements for different cable constructions.
- Develop detailed costing sheets and support cost optimization initiatives.
- Update and maintain design and costing data in Excel and ERP systems.
Technical Support & Coordination
- Review RFQs, technical specifications, and tender documents.
- Provide technical support and costing inputs to the Sales and Business Development teams.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Procurement, and Quality departments to ensure smooth project execution.
- Provide technical clarifications and support to customers as required.
Product Development & Quality Assurance
- Assist in the development of new cable products and enhancement of existing products.
- Support material development activities for new applications.
- Ensure compliance with relevant IS, IEC, and company quality standards.
- Participate in vendor development, product qualification, and performance improvement programs.
- Monitor material utilization and recommend cost-effective design improvements.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain technical documentation, including design calculations, BOMs, specifications, and costing records.
- Ensure all designs comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality procedures.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Power, Control, and Instrumentation Cable construction.
- Understanding of cable manufacturing processes and materials.
- Proficiency in cable design calculations and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, costing, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with ERP systems is preferred.

- IEC 60502
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Cable Engineer (CCE) – Preferred
- State Electrical Engineer License (India)
- Professional Engineer (PE) License – Desirable
- ISO 9001 & ISO 17025 Awareness
- Electrical Safety Certification
- Knowledge of Fire-Retardant and Hazardous Area Standards
